Gang Memoir, Turning Page, Is Pure Fiction

March 4, 2008

In “Love and Consequences,” a critically acclaimed memoir published last week, Margaret B. Jones wrote about her life as a half-white, half-Native American girl growing up in South-Central Los Angeles as a foster child among gang-bangers, running drugs for the Bloods.

The problem is that none of it is true.

You would think with all the money publishers and editors make they would be able to do some fact checking before a book is published. This is almost the same exact situation with "A million little pieces", I received the book as gift( because I love Oprah so much) and about half way through the news broke that it was mostly fabricated. I felt very deceived as I'm sure a lot of other readers were, needless to stay I stopped reading the book.
